The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a large number of deaths and massive disruption all around the world.
Unfortunately, early statistics show that between 10 to 30 % of people who contract the virus will be left with what is called long Covid. Many of the symptoms are similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)/ Myalgic Enchephalomyelitis (ME) but it is too early to know yet how similar.
The CDC definition of long Covid is any new, returning or ongoing symptoms experienced after an acute Covid-19 infection. From the emerging data in the US – long Covid has over 200 symptoms and affect 10 organ systems in the body.
The severity of your Covid-19 infection does not impact your chance of experiencing long Covid.
As more data and research is done, the hope is that there will be widespread support for those who suffer with these disabling symptoms.
Along with my experience with the management of CFS – I have developed a program to help with long Covid symptoms. I have done this by using the current evidence available.
